I have this one (actually several of them): http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/215227/product.web

This is another option although I haven't used this type myself: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/10464/product.web

I prefer the first because it has an adhustable temperature setting. The only thing I dislike about it is that the control for the setting is encased in soft plastic and it makes it a little harder to turn.

typically, a tank that small shouldn't need a heater unless stored in a very cool room. if your light is an incandescent( not fluorescent) it should give off enough heat if turned on a couple times a day. In a tank that small the water will quickly be fairly relative to room temp. I have 4 tanks ranging from 75 to 5 gallons, the bigger ones have heaters but my betta one does not and its only 2-3 degrees cooler than my heated ones. My bettas are both(1 male 1 female) over 2yrs old now and never had a problem.

yes walmart will carry one for about 15 dollars. i bought a 50 watt for my ten gallon and it quit working after about 6 months and the new one i got the same one. quit after a day.

so go to a pet store and buy a good brand name one. i bought one for about 20 and it works fine.
