It's from the Netherlands. Kind of reminds me of the French name Clothilde. Any names similar to this besides Chloe or Clodagh?

kristin, i don't know, but I imagined it was pronounced Clo-teal. I like it that way too :)

How is this pronounced - like clo-teal or clo-tee-al?

If it is pronounced clo-teal, then I like it, if the other, I don't.

It sounds like an artery or some equally odd part of the body. I understand though, I lived in the Hague for a while, but we're not there anymore so we've got to adapt to these crazy American ways! How about Claudia?

I thought cockatiel like the pretty grey birds. Clarisse has a similar sound, but Clotiel has a nice sound, it's just a little unusual, maybe play around with some spellings to make it look a bit different.

Not really; it sounds wrong if you get what I'm saying.
Get a baby name book and find something unique.
I got one for 95 cents at Vons.

I'm not familiar with Clotiel, but you're right ... my immediate thought was Clothilde, which I do quite like.

Clodagh, nickname Cloe/Chloe, is another favorite, but you already have that one. ;) There's also Clotilda, Clotho/Klotho, Clovis, Clovia and Chloris.

Please remember the child in all of this, i assume the child wont be in the Netherlands with this name, just keep in mind that the child will go to school and children are quite nasty, why make it easy for them to harrass your child ?

No offense, but I don't like it and I think there would be many problems with pronunciation and spelling. I see what you're going for, but it doesn't work with that name.

honestly, it's an awful name. Chloe and Chlotilde are nice names, though.

It sounds like clitoris or cialis. Not something I'd wish on an innocent child.
