so if a girl needs to do a pelvic exam, this means that the gynaecologist took her virginity? I think people need to stop living in dark ages and come to the modern World. I feel really sad when many girls and women suffered rape and then they think that they lost virginity. in the modern World a sign of losing virginity is when someone has a consensual sex with the person they like or love.

its a modern World. maybe people arent flying yet, but right now its a modern age, not dark age anymore.

I agree with what you said. And besides a lot of women accidentally and unknowingly break their hymen when they are young children. In activities such as bike riding, horse back riding or many other things. They may hurt "down there" but not know what they just did. So I agree lack of a hymen, or non painful sex doesn't mean a whole lot but way to many people/cultures/religions put to much stock in it.

I think there are two thoughts going on here. Physically, the hymen when intact is considered to be a sign of virginity because of obvious reasons. However, as in rape or anything nonconsensual, physcially the hymen would be torn and they are no longer virgins. However horrible the trauma, physically the body has been changed forever and there is nothing that can change that . If a person has been raped she is not a virgin anymore physcially. Mentally she has to be healed with help, support, from friends and family but the physcial aspect is still the hymen has been torn resulting in the fact that she has had intercourse.

Actually, one could argue that the presence of an intact hymen is a sign of virginity but the lack of it is not necessarily a sign of impurity. I think that's what you meant to say. Good night!
