Evolution ornamentals such as the in grown legs and appendices enact a story of change that makes denying the story very hard. If for instance, you were told that the whales were evolving from water hippos, you could enquire of the water hippo's evolution and then continue along these lines until you reach the first living organism. Then you could say that god made that first living organism. That is how people make denials in evolutionary theory.

You have answered your own question. Logic has no bearing on people who base their beliefs on an emotion rather than fact.
As for the appendix in humans...it produces enzymes that aid in the digestion taking place in the small intestine. An inflamed appendix is usually caused by an infection that will cause it to burst. But then again, doctors won't tell you those facts either!!

Did you ever see the movie "Nuns On The Run"? There was a scene where the Catholic guy was trying to explain the Holy Trinity to the Jewish guy. The Jewish guy says "But it doesn't make any sense!!" To which the Catholic guy responds, "Aah, but if it made any sense, you wouldn't have to accept it on faith, would you?" Faith is the answer. I have seen more than one TV evangelist hawking a book about overcoming logical thought. So you will just believe all your preacher tells you. Facts don't matter. They live in the Faith based world where 2 + 2 can = 5...or anything. Unfortunately the world lives in the reality based world.
Orwell hit it right on the head in "1984" with the concept of double think, in which people can accept two totally contradictory thought systems. In religious terms, people have zero problem simultaneously accepting that the world is 6,000 years old yet put 150 million year old petroleum in their cars. Facts and logic do not matter. They should, but they don't.

Explain to me the evolutionary reasons for the platypus.
The bombadier beetle excretes 2 chemicals from its behind. When mixed they explode. Alone they do nothing. Why would it evolve to synthesize both? Why not just one chemical that stinks on its own like a skunk?
A giraffe has a system of blood vessels that, when it bends it neck down to drink groundwater, keep the blood from rushing into its head and causing its brain to explode. Did they develop this after they had long necks? Did the long necked ones without this die? Or did they develop this before they had long necks so they wouldn't have a stroke whenever they drank? Why would they need it before they had long necks?
While your at it explain the pre-cambrian explosion in the fossil record. I'd like to know.

First, i'd like to say i firmly *do* believe in evolution. But i would like to make a few points in defence of *some* creationists. Please excuse the bile, i'm feeling a bit argumentative.
1- Very few creationists deny that evolution does occur to some extent. They accept that a species can be adjusted overtime by natural selction. They don't accept that lots of tiny mutations can add together to produce the massive kinds of changes that evolutionary theory involves.
2- Evolution can easily be explained badly, and some of the details of modern theory in, say, geology, are usually reported wrongly. For example a lot of textbooks say that rocks were deposited very, very gradually, at pretty constant rates. (Rates like a few millimeters per hundred years). This just doesn't make any sense in terms of some fossils. Modern theories allow for mudslides, earthquakes, and other minor or major catastrophes. But this isn't in the basic texts.
3. When you are confronted with the full body of evidence that exists in support of evolution, the data are overwhelming. But who actually gets the opportunity to see that much evidence? If you're a non-specialist, a layman, you don't get to see much evidence at all, and what you do see is hardly conclusive evidence.
The fact is, most of us (me included) couldn't hold our ground against a really well informed creationist, because we don't know the details, the subtelties, and the evidence in evolutionary theory. We don't believe in evolution because we've considered, attacked, and tried to disprove the theory and failed. We believe it because we've been taught it from birth, because we know some pretty convincing, but hardly conclusive, explanations of it, and because everyone else around us believes in it too.
Funnily enough, that's the same reason most creationists believe in creationism.

There is a big difference between evolution and adaptation. Animals can adapt to surroundings by slowly developing body parts for a specific purpose. The whale with in-grown legs is still a whale. The idea that humans came from apes is ridiculous, and un-proven. The reason I don't believe in evolution is due to the non-existence of the "transitional form." If humans evolved from apes, it would still be happening today, (which it isn't) and there would be evidence of the in between stages (which there isn't).

People have thier beliefs and you posting a question on Yahoo Answers is not going to change anyone's mind.
All the evolution believers can do is just sit back and QUIETLY know we are right, hoping that Creationists will not jump down our throats.

I think the answer is embedded in your question: "How can anybody logically deny evolution?" They cannot--the denials are not logical in nature. To understand them, you need to study psychology, not science.

It's called delusion. If you deny the obviously valid existence of the force of change that is evolution, you've been trained to reject such concepts in favor of more comfortable, "sugar-coated" ideals (like those of say.... RELIGION).

Accually it has been proven humans cannot have evolved from monkeys because we do not carry a gene from them we would have had to take along, but other than that the evidence is overwhelming that evolution does exist.
