Some do. There are some people on the Left and Right whom are not deserving of respect. They are simply trolls, saying asinine and inflammatory things designed to irritate.

Not all of us are political bigots.
Some of us are patriots, first, and political party members, second.
More than anything, intolerance of such childish behaviors like a playground 'war' is effective at stopping them. If we don't tolerate it in our own party, we help the other "side" do the same thing.
I get many emails from republicans and democrats alike who appreciate the eye-opening I try to give. I'm grateful for the feedback.
I fought political bigotry and President bashing when President Clinton was in office.
As a man of integrity, how could I do less, now, with the Republicans and President Bush?
One day it will be patriots against those against our country in one way or another, regardless of what we support otherwise.
I hope to be there when it happens.
I would expect no less from any person, in any country, regarding the country they love.

Not at all. I sometimes come here for laughs because there is so much name calling, questions that only can be answered if one agrees with the askers opinion and so on.
I have a hard time believing that people are really so black and white, left wing, right wing.
I think a lot of questions are asked for their comedic or shock value.
But, once in a while there are thoughtful questions and well thought out answers from all different kinds of perspective.

In many cases yes. But that depends on the person who is asking and it also depends on many of the respondents. If it's a known rabblerouser or troll.... Rarely do you find anything of intellect being typed other than the usual hatred. Both sides are guilty of this. But there are many posters here that I do respect who don't share my ideology.

When you are adament about your beliefs then you have trouble seeing the other side especially if it is a side that you have already determined to be untrue for you.
Many people on here haven't really done much research on what to believe so they might come across disrespectfully.

this country will continue into a downward spiral until both partys learn the meaning of the word "compromise",I have even found myself baited by the trolls who post inflammatory questions and comments,I am sure the founding fathers found things they disagreed on,but compromise prevailed and gave us our current system of government.I am basicly conservative in my views, pro gun,pro life, pro smaller government, etc, but I would never tell someone how to live their lives and what to believe in,and I ask for the same respect.

Very seldom will that happen here
BUT...it allows many to be civil in other areas. Like while traveling a roadway and seeing a Prius...

We respect 'Republican' viewpoints. Always have
But when 'Republicans' start spouting Neo-con garbage, we start calling them what they are: IDIOTS!
A case in point is 'wolf' above.

I try. There are a few here though that are impossible to reason with and are very rude and condescending in their answers.
They know who they are.
