Yes. They would be great young peeps to play in the postseason. Ellusbury is not youre average rookie, niether is Bucholz.

Who ever knew the playoffs for the Yankees and Red Sox can be decided by people under the age of 27?

Short answer - yes, but it takes a little work.

The roster for postseason play technically freezes on August 31. Anyone added to the 40-man roster after that is ineligible for the playoffs. So you can start playing roster games with the 25-man playoff roster with those remaining players.

Then, to confuse things a bit more, you can juggle the roster between series. I think the Red Sox added Mendoza to the roster for the series with the Yankees in '04 -- not that he helped much.

Yeah they're Eligible they're is no Age Requirements to play for the Red Sox.
