To clear this up;

If you are a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States then you do not require a passport to travel to Hawaii, you will however require some form of government issued photo-ID and I would also take with you proof of your residency in the United States.

Your friend however will need her passport and if she is traveling from the United Kingdom and staying in the United States for more than 90 days then she will also require a tourist (B-2) visa. To obtain one of these then she would have to visit the American Embassy in London (see website below) prior to her departure from the United Kingdom.

If she is staying for less than 90 days and she is visiting strickly for tourisem then a passport is all that she would need.

If she is already in the United States with you then she would already have the visa or entered visa-free under the visa-waiver program and so again, her passport will be all she would need.

If you mean Hawaii, the rules would be the same as for anywhere else in the U.S., such as Florida. If you are a citizen of the Bahamas, ignore all the answers of persons who assumed that you were a citizen of the U.S.

Everyone who commented "No, if you are an American", "if you are a US citizen, it's like going from NY to NJ", etc., this is the "Bahamas" category. Since the question is obviously not about travel to the Bahamas, it must be about travel from the Bahamas to Hawaii by a citizen of the Bahamas.

Nope, no need to worry about his. A passport is only needed to go out of country or the United States. Happy vacationing! <3

Hawaii? No, if you are an American. It is one of the 50 States. However, for the millions of Japanese and other foreigners, then yes.
