It's crazy, isn't it? Our forefathers never imagined that we would limit ourselves to a two-party system. The corruption that it causes is evident to anyone with half of a brain.

America is made up of blue-collar workers with short attention spans that look at nothing more than the immediate situation. When something is not right and is in disrepair, they vote in the party that they know will make things better. But then when the side effects kick in, which is whatever the newly elected party does on their agenda, they become miserable again and vote back in the party that failed to get it right in the first place. And it goes on and on and on like that to where we virtually have to conclude that nobody knows what the hell they want.
We have this problem because of the fact that we have political parties in the first place. Under a political party system, people are left to decide the more important issues to them and then are left with no choice but to go along with whatever else the party wants. So in other words, one could be pro-choice, but also a pro-capitalist. While one would think that they would go independent for that reason, instead this person feels strongly about drilling for oil in a fragile ecosystem that he/she votes Republican to assure that happens. Well, that happens, but so does the outlawing of abortion of which the latter this person hates to see happen. Or in some cases, maybe this person is so caught up with the riches that can come from the oil drill that he/she doesn't give a hoot about the women that are forcefully bonded by law into an unwanted pregnancy.
The above example is my case for why we need to get rid of the political party system instead of just finding the right third party candidate. Two parties do nothing more than color the issues in black and white to where we have to make a choice, as well as sacrifice in the name of what we think is more important.

Many of them do, yes. And that is the grand plan worked out between the democrats and republicans to stay in control and keep the power over us. The parties have us right where they want. Divided and squabbling.

Most people assume the fights are going to be the left versus the right, but it always is the reasonable versus the jerks.
Jerks are in a consecutive roll of wins because all you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.

well... I think the American people would be open to a third party...
it just seems that all the "other parties" tend to be a little on the wacko side...
it would be interesting to see a third party that played more to mainstream issues...

In America there are only black sheep and white sheep.
But they stay sheep. And sheep are not allowed to think.
Sheep have only only function in life. 'Lambs to the slaughter'
Not other 'developed and educated' country has only two parties. Not one.

Some how we have become obsessed with who is the President. The fact is your congressman and senators have more of an influence on what goes on in the country.
