What is the reason that people believe to keep troops in Iraq of to take them out? By reason, I mean a wider-perspective reason - not something like "Because families are heart-broken that children are dying everyday," but something like "Republicans don't want to pull out the war they started or they'd lose power in the elections." I'm not saying death isn't important but asking what the end-result would be if we chose to keep/pull out troops.

well mine answer is kind of on the death track, but i think with all the bombs and stuff blowing up over there if we pulled our troops out then let them all blow each other up and eventually there will not be anyone left over there, but why let them keep blowing up our troops, make a army of their men and let them all blow up. Then we wouldnt have the heart broken families over here, i just think Bush wanted to finish what his daddy started, and we went in for all the wron reasons, most of our troops aren't even in the country that took the twin towers down with the planes, If the president cant even get the country right why send our troops to the wrong place and let them die its stupid, and ignorant

in the beginning, your type could learn the separation of powers and what authority congress has. Congress has no direct order-giving authority over the militia...that's the only authority of the Commander-In-chief...the President. Congress has funds authority and could delay investment if needed, yet can't 'bypass a regulation pulling troops from iraq'. as quickly as you get previous that, sure, i think usa is safer with troops in Iraq...Zarqawi, bin encumbered, and different Al Qaeda varieties or maybe Ahmadinejad has even pronounced between themselves that Iraq is a key place in the present war. So, the enormous question is, do you combat the bully once you may, or do you wait until he's at your back door?

You asked what people believe; not what I believe.

1. take them out.
this religious war will never end, we should not get between them.

The cost in lives and money is too great a sacrifice to make.

We were wrong to go in the first place, so we should leave.

Bush started it, we don't like Bush so get out of his war.

2. reasons to stay
We started the war, finish it.

If we left without establishing a government in control a wider war between the Sunni and Shite would interfere with oil shipments to the world. The results wouldn't be gas lines but no gas in America.

If we left the war would greatly expand killing thousands, perhaps millions.

We started the war, we are morally obliged to protect the civilians who would be at risk were we to leave.

The resulting wider war, death and destruction would increase the hatred for America by both the Muslim and the western world.

As can be seen by the reasons to stay or leave that I can think of my tendency right now is to stay. But I would prefer some one to come up with a way to leave and not have all the negative consequences. (or convince me I am wrong of about what might happen.

It is a civil war over there between Sunnis & shiites. We can't stop that, nor should we even try. Those two factions killing each other poses no threat to our country. Our troops are not there to be shot out because of their petty stupidity that has gone on for centuries.

Now, if we leave there, and there is a terrorist attack in America, or at an american interest in the world, and that attack can be absolutely linked to militants in Iraq, then we should go back and take out whomever it was, regardless of where they hide. That includes civilian targets if that's where they are. Ugly situation but, that's how they choose to live, so that's how they should die.

Our troops are working at an extreme disadvantage because the U.S. is not at war - it is a civil war, and our troops don't know who is the enemy and who isn't.

It is an intractable situation, and due to the religious aspect of it, there will never be any winners or losers, just a lot of dead people on both sides.

I'd prefer seeing most of the troops be brought home, and some be redeployed to a standby position. Let Al-Qaida begin to coalesce, and then go after them. Right now all our soldiers are doing is to be sitting ducks for IEDs and snipers. It's insane! (but then again, so is Bush)

Pull out? No seriously... Pull out?
Oh I see. When we pull out of Iraq we'll see Iran packing up and going home. We'll see al qaeda getting fed up with all it's new recruits and free training grounds. Yeah that's it. We may also see Sunni's and the Shea lay down their weapons and stop cutting each others heads off.
Hell no. The U.S. better not pull out now. You will see the biggest massacre in history if we do. Iran would have total control of a whole entire country's oil. Yes I said it "oil". You know the blood that flows through the world's veins.
The only reason most say is little Billy misses his daddy.
I say so friggin what? His daddy volunteered to go to war. His daddy knows what's going on. Billy doesn't and neither does anyone else that thinks like little Billy.

The massive amount of debt the war in Iraq is costing the US. Have our billions of dollars "protecting our country" been well spent? The world has a very negative view of the US's involvement in the middle east and the sooner we pull out the sooner more countries soften their views toward america.

THE TROOPS SHOULD BE PULLED FROM IRAQ ... BECAUSE WE SHOULD NOT BE THERE THEY DON'T EVEN WANT US THERE ...BUSH ONLY WENT THERE FOR MONEY AND TO FINISH WHAT HIS FATHER COULD NOT ....AND IT'S SAD THAT SOME OF THE TROOPS FIGHTING AND DYING CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU WHY THE WAR WAS STARTED AND WHAT THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR.......IT'S NOT FAIR TO THEM TO FIGHT IN A WAR JUST BECAUSE THE PRESIDENT IS A JACK *** AND WON'T SHOW WHAT A COWARD HE REALLY IS BY PULLING THE TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ ...THIS POOR SOLDIERS ARE BEING PERMANENTLY EFFECTED BY THE THINGS THAT WARS BRING ALONG WITH IT AND I BELIEVE THEY ARE UNDER PAID ID RATHER GIVE MONEY TO THEM AND THERE FAMILY THAN TO SPEND IT ON ALL THE OTHER STUPID **** AMERICA WASTE MONEY ON ...

Well said JT. And, let me add all those people that say we should pull out immediately should perhaps take a real stand for what they believe in and, sell their cars, buy a bicycle and live the life they preach. So what if the bigger story is about oil... We all NEED it. If we had it and the Iraqis wanted it you can bet they would occupy as long has they could.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING. THE REASON WHY THE US SHOULD NOT PULL OUT IS IRAQ HAS NOT ESTABLISHED A GOVERNMENT FOR THEMSELVES YET. THEY HAVE VOTED, YES, 90% TURNED OUT FOR THE ELECTION.

IT HAS BEEN A TRAINING GROUND FOR TERRORISTS AND THAT IS WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT. IRAN SUPPLIES ARMS AND TERRORISTS, TO IRAQ...WAR IS NOT PRETTY BUT REMEMBER, HILLARY CLINTON, THE UN AND CONGRESS INSISTED WE GO IN.

I BELIEVE WE SHOULD ASK THE TROOPS WHAT TO DO. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE SACRIFICING THEIR LIVES, FAMILIES, AND FUTURES ON THIS WAR.

ANYONE CAN TALK AND SAY ANYTHING BUT HOW ABOUT TALKING TO THE ONES THAT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON??? I AM ALL FOR THAT. HOW ABOUT YOU??
