My 8 year old son has to make one for school. I've search on here but all I can find is about the culture and how they accually built them. What I need is something to tell me how to go about making one. I can't even find any pictures of what they look like. Is there a site that would show school projects so I can see what I need to do?

Here's some more pictures:

One other way to make them is modeling clay that doesn't have to be baked. Just be careful not to squish it before it gets graded.

If you go to Google and click on Images, wait until the new search box comes up, and then type something like "Hopi dwelling" or "Hopi pueblo" into it and hit enter, at least you'll have a picture or two to go on.

Sure, make the houses out of cardboard. That'll work. Cover them with sandpaper or real sand glued on.

If you'd rather, you can mix white glue and water (1 part water, 1 part white glue) and add that to sand to make hardening mud. You can then build the pueblo out of that. Don't use too much liquid, or it'll never stand up to dry. If you're in a hurry, dry it on a foil-covered cookie sheet at 250 or 300 degrees Fahrenheit in the oven.

I think he could tape some boxes together and cut some openings, and build ladders from toothpicks. He could cover it with brown paper afterwards.
