If your brother likes to play golf there are several nice golf courses nearby to Florence. One is the Links of Boone County and the other is Lassing Pointe, which is rated one of the top ten public golf courses in the nation. Also, Turfway Race Track is in Florence and it is in season at the moment. They have great live and simulcast horse racing. Also, there are lots of parks nearby if your brother is into cycling or hiking. There is lots of shopping in the Florence area and of course lots of restaurants. There is all of the typical chain restaurants. If he wants to stay right in Florence to eat I would suggest the Grand Cafe in the Hilton Hotel for something nice. Also, I would highly recommend Fuji Steakhouse. It is a Japanese Hibachi Style Restaurant that is not a chain but is VERY good and moderately priced ( this right across the street from the mall). If he is wanting a sports themed dinner Hooters and Buffalo Wild Wings are in the area. If he is into having an authentic KY meal then he should make the drive to Ft. Mitchell to the Greyhound Tavern. It is very historic, the food is awesome and it is authentic. For nightlife the Hilton has a martini bar that is pretty cool. A fifteen minute drive north would put you into Covington where he could go to Mainstrasse. This is a neat little area that should be explored if he has the time.

Hopefully, this will give him some good ideas.

It depends on what your brother likes to eat and how much you want to spend. There is a Brio at Newport as well as a Middle East restaurant (don't know the name but have eaten there once). In Florence there is a Chung Kiwa which is Korean BBQ. It is an all you can eat meat-fest. In Florence also Houston Road there are a lot of restaurants but they are more chain-type that you can find anywhere. Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse is more local cuisine.

In Florence there is racetrack to watch horse-racing. Newport also has the Tropicana if you and your brother like clubs.

Go to the Hoffbrau Hause at Newport on the Levee. Its right down towards the river, and he can go to Newport on the Levee afterwards (maybe to the comedy club to see a show?). The Hoffbrau Hause is great. First, its a true, authentic German restaurant- its run by the Hoffbrau in Munich, Germany, and is the only one outside of Germany. They have great authentic German beer, brewed onsite under the German Purity Laws (I love the dunkle). They have an outside beer garden, which now that it is cooling off a bit, would be a great way to spend an evening. But, if he prefers inside, its got a great atmosphere, with a huge bar, great German food, an Oompah band, and people dancing through the aisles and up on tables. Its a great experience. Talking about it makes me wanna go :) Its just up the road from Florence!

In Florence, take a walking excursion of the city, pass to ascertain David, Pitti Palace, Duomo, cling out at Signoria Piazza, see the city panorama from Michelangelo Piazza and pass to a stay overall performance in a sprint church if available. something of Tuscany, Lucca or the Wall city is exciting. you may journey a bicycle on the wall surrounding city. of course the sought after leaning tower at Pisa. We enjoyed San Gimignano or the Towers city. that is comparable to Siena yet much less crowded and loopy. Cinque Terre won't be in Tuscany. that is a sprint extra north alongside the west coast. even nonetheless, that is a tremendous area. you may look at some photos under. We had a blast. you're able to too!

Ummm - not much to do in Florence itself, but it's very close to Cincinnati which has tons to do. If you're looking for a great restraunt, try Montgomery Inn - there is one on the Cincinnati side right on the river. It's a staple rib place in the area - it's a bit expensive, but amazing.

There are many things to do in Cinci - try the zoo, the Underground Railroad museum. If you're looking for nightlife, try Mainstrasse in Covington, KY.
