Yes, stress can be a very big factor concerning a lack of period, but another factor is your hormones may be all out of whack. And stress has more of an effect than you think. I went an entire summer without my period due to stress. I would talk to your doctor about it, and if it continues to be irregular, you might want to ask him/her if they would consider putting you on a form of birth control if you are not already on it to regulate it.

First, take a deep breath and relax. If you have not been sexually active in the last 6 weeks it is very unlikely that you are pregnant.

Your regular cycle works like this: each month an ovary releases an egg, and the tissue where the egg used to be (the follicle) begins to produce a hormone called progesterone. If the egg is fertilized, the developing embryo starts producing progesterone and this continues during the pregnancy. If the egg is not fertilized, after about 10 days the remains of the follicle dries up, the progesterone level falls, and you have a progesterone-withdrawal period (the birth control pill works much the same way, except you don't release an egg).

I doubt that you are sick, but an irregular period is not unusual. There isn't anything to be scared of, but for your own peace of mind you may want to see a doctor and get an exam.

You can miss your period for any number of reasons, including, like you mentioned, stress, being sick, or a change in your lifestyle. The best thing to do would be to make an appointment with your doctor just to give you a sense of ease; more stress isn't going to help the problem :) I've been very late before as well, and it always came around.

It's probably due to stress, a lot of girls miss it due to stress or lifestyle changes. Also seasonal changes can affect periods I've heard. If you know you can't be pregnant, you don't need to worry unless you miss 2 or 3 in a row, or you have other symptoms of illness.

If you have not been sexually active, why are you so scared?

Periods can be irregular. It's ok. It will happen like that for the rest of your life. It will come like clock-work and then one month it will be late or come early.

If you don't have a period by November, then I would see your gynecologist. Yes, it could be that late.

Have you been more active lately? (running/sports, not sexually) That can throw off your cycle - if your period is always regular, and you don't have it for a month after when it was supposed to come, you should talk to your doctor.

Go to the doctor and get checked. That's the only way you'll have peace of mind.
