We live in a world where anything is possible.
If people want to call that magic then so be it.
Not everything makes sense, common or otherwise.

Well friend,
this sort of presumes common sense has EVER been the rule.
I have noticed a lowered tolerance for 'Mainstream' religion. But not really an elevated common sense among the 'Christianity is Evil' crowd. Lots of people claim to believe in science, then consult their astrological charts and whinge about Karma. The Liberal Left claims to believe in Darwinism, but I see no indication they actually understand the theory.
A serious look at the issue of Global Warming leads to the conclusion this is a mater of faith as well.
So, is there more magical thinking than common sense?
I'd say YES.
Does this constitute a change?
I'd say NO.

I think that family time has been replaced too often by TV, video games, etc. and there isn't enough personal teaching of our children.
The Walton's used to be the ways families lived, but all that has been replaced by machines. Lack of quality time and quality teaching, sharing the wisdom of our forefathers to the grandchildren and there goes the common sense out the window.
Sometimes I look at the tools our ancestors used and how they worked, some work so much better than the fancy gadgets we have today, than others may not work as well. But back than the tools pretty much had to work, your survival depended on them.
I sometimes wonder if we have gone full circle... We have become so intelligent that we have become ignorant.

There is abundant room for both magical thinking & common sense, (however one wants to subjectively define them), & I've not yet seen one taking precedence over the other.
There will always be people who are advocates of one or the other, or that they have somehow been "influenced."
I have no statistics on which to base this, only observations. I believe that balanced, happy people are both, when appropriate.

Only as so far as dreams are considered. We waste our lives pursuing the impossible dream as we confront life's realities. When at last, we pause in our mad rush to gaze upon the mirror with jaundiced eye, we we see we have grown old and life has passed us by. We have failed to live life with gusto, enraptured instead by the chimera of a dream than could never be realized. Another victim of magical thinking.

No. We live in a bizzare society in which faith is often more important than fact. And hopefully that will change as time passes.

Yes and it is mostly caused from TV.
People don't realize that is all make believe and they try to live like the people on TV.
There is no common sense on the boob-tube. They just like people to think there is.

Yes we do, and it's not just about religious belief. Have you ever heard theories about the "quantum mind"? What it boils down to is the belief that you can affect and determine reality by thinking about it.
