The product key is usually found on a label on the back of the plastic case that protected the Office CD or on the protective envelope. It is a good idea, when purchasing a program, to keep a record of the key. See if one of these keyfinders can help you:

Your Microsoft office product key would not normally be located on your computer, that would be your Microsoft Windows key. If this computer is fairly new, and you used to be able to use Office but now it is asking for a key, you may have only been provided with a demo install. That would require you to purchase a license from Microsoft to continue using Office. I would suggest reading the documentation that came with your PC as well as look for any CD's that have Microsoft Office on them and a product key could be located on the CD case.

The product key is a group of characters that comes with the software. Each product is different and each copy of the product in the line is different. The only way to get a key for a product is to buy it. The one on the computer is for windows.
