depends on what you are looking for. in a cell using ATP adenacine tri-phophate (cellular energy) in able to get in certain nutrience such as potassium (K+) the cell needs ATP to attach to the protein that takes in this nutrient. once the ATP attaches to the protein the protein will open letting in this nutrient. well I will give you a site to learn this that is from my college from one of my labs... hope this helps.
