Milk is a complete food source for some species during a certain period of development. For example, human babies only drink their mothers milk at first and that is enough to keep them healthy during that time of their development. The milk contains all the nutrients (vitamins & minerals) that is needed. As they grow, babies need other vitamins and minerals that milk alone can't provide.

Another example, kittens live off of strickly their mothers milk for 5 or 6 weeks and then the mother weans them and they start eating solid foods. During the first 5-6 weeks of their life the milk provides all the nutrients their bodies need to stay heathly.

Hope this help.

Good that don't get it. Because your logic is telling you this just don't make sense.

That's pure marketing propaganda from American dairy companies. Americans and Canadians have been brain washed by the corporate dairy market machine in to believing milk is essential for life. Nonsense. The overwhelming number of adults of planet Earth live very well and happily without 8 ounces of milk per day.

The fact is, many adults have difficulties digesting whole milk. Throughout mans evolution, the only time he was exposed to milk was when he or she was being breast fed. So why assume adults can drink milk and not have problems.

You see, milk contains a lot of nutrients such as
CALCIUM, VITAMIN D, SUGAR, FAT, STARCH, WATER, CARBOHYDRATES, which makes it a complete package..kind of like a substitute to food...

by the way , the guy above me is not giving a good information the website that he's talking about is not even reliable...

Milk is a good choice, that's why schools are encouraging kids to drink milk at school..because it's really important not only to kids but to everyone..

"A complete food source"?
Sounds like more hype from the daily council. Milk is not a wonder food, and do some research (like at notmilk.com) and see that it's not a very healthy or viable food source.

Milk provides all the nutrition needed for a baby to grow and develop normally.

I believe that it means that, in theory, you can survive on nothing but whole milk since it should have everything that you need -- I.E. : "complete".

Note that only cows can live off of cow's milk alone. Human milk should be complete for humans, etc.
