I'm trying to sell my car to a canadian buy who insists in sending me a cashiers check...

Can I cash the canadian cashiers check in the united states?

If not, how do you suggest sending the money?

Thank you in advanced

Yes as long as your bank will take the check it really just depends on how big your bank is in your area.

sort of. you can go to your bank and deposit it, and they will put in on hold while they process it, putting the money in your account only when they get it from canada. it is a "foreign collection item" and it could take weeks before you get the money, or find out the cashiers check is fake.

i would ask that the individual wire the money into your account. you will have the funds available within 24 hours, and are less likely to be ripped off.

Your bank will probably take the cashier's check. However, since it is a foreign check, they will be applying an exchange rate. Canada and US are pretty close these days on their currency exchange. But you will get slightly more or slightly less as a result.

Hi I'm answering from Canada. We can go to any bank here and ask for a money order or registered cheque (I think that would be the same things as a cashier's cheque) in U.S. funds. Just be sure to ask the buyer for the cheque to be made out in U.S. dollars and it shouldn't be any problem!

Have the buyer "TRANSFER FUNDS TO YOUR ACCOUNT".
Give him the tracking number and account number from your check.
Payment Can Be Stopped on Cashier Checks. They carry no guarantee.
