house and using it to murder (or kill) a burglar? There are no exceptions when the Bible says Thou shalt not murder (or kill), and self-defence is not an excuse for breaking one of the commandments! And if he was just going to rob you, not kill you, you are twice as wrong.

the ten Commandments have been meant to tutor Israel a thank you to stay a holy existence. For in the present day's Christian, this is meant to tutor how far they omit the known...and how lots they choose a savior. The commandments have been never meant as a answer to get to heaven...yet a thank you to correctly known that they are not perfect (and subsequently, wanting the help of the single which is optimal.) it rather is no longer following rules or being a perfect man or woman that makes one a Christian. homicide and killing at the instant are not unavoidably an identical, the latter in all probability falling under 'self-protection'...yet no longer all Christians trust that and might prefer to 'turn the different cheek'. If it have been me, i might probable do in spite of it takes to guard my family participants. i'm no expert in Hebrew background, yet on an identical time as while the ten commandments have been given, there have been rules that allowed Israel to place persons to loss of existence (which isn't comparable to murdering)...yet this became severe. lots of their rules have been unquestionably designed to reintegrate the felon back into relationships and society. in many circumstances, they rules have been designed to hold reconciliation between the wrongdoer and the sufferer...to the factor of being acquaintances (or a minimum of civil associates).

Actually.... there is a LARGE difference between the Kill, and murder. If you were more familiar with the Bible... you'd know there was a "lotta killin' going on... " by the Jews after they reached the promised land.

And... my I point out, there are people who own guns who are not Christians, and Christians who don't own guns....

So a question for you: Who are you trying to degrade? Christians, gun owners or both?

You'll probably never need a gun your whole life. But... in the unlikely scenario that you DO need one... there's no substitute.

Warm regards,
Douglas

I am not a christian but I have studied the bible and the bible does make exception for self defense and things like that.

The bible "in the new testiment" even talks about the use of capital punishment for serious offenses.

Killing and murdering are two totaly different things. Ever notice that the charge is never killing but murder that is becuase the definition is different

Sweetheart,
There is a Hispanic male (illegal) in my town in MS who is raping, beating and leaving for dead, elderly women. So far he has raped three women over 80 years of age. Now before you start pulling the race card my godson is half Hispanic and one of the joys of my life. Personally I wouldn't care if the guy was green with orange stripes. Nowhere in the Bible does the Lord advocate not defending yourself when all other options have been exhausted. My son is staying with his elderly grandmother and I will tell you this, if the poor idiot breaks in on her we won't be wasting tax payer money on his trial. There are gray areas in things, this is one of them. I don't think that God has a problem at all with a person defending himself or his family or home against people who mean to do them harm.

Since when a person breaks into your house you have no idea what he is there for, its better to err on the side of caution and assume the person is going to do you or your family harm. The right of self defence is part of our laws, the amount of force nessary to repel an invasion of your home is up to you.

Your statement is false. Most christians DO NOT keep a gun in the house to kill burglars. They are kept to shoot illegals, terrorists, and the boogie man. They also make good noise makers for the forth of july celebrations, good for target practice, and excellent for hunting.

Actually you can use a gun on a burglar without killing them. Get them in the kneecaps or in a males case worse and they are in pain.

Baloney. Break into my house, you die. I don't give a hoot about your interpretation of the bible. Have your friends and kids get a less dangerous job. An honest one. Pay some taxes.

All citizens have the right to protect what is theirs. How do you know the thief was only going to take some possesions? Do you let people come and just take your things?

Actually, the Bible does recognize self-defense -- as well as punishment of criminals -- as two of the exceptions.

They are not in the text of the Commandments, because the commandments were meant as short simple statements -- but they are frequently discussed in many later sections.
