He thinks he can do one thing and say another and that we will believe what he says. Hasn't he heard that this is the information age. He cannot hide his crimes behind a smile. How can he say that there is no homosexuals in his country. Does he think he has killed them all, or is the pratice just done by everyone so they don't consider it to be homosexuality.

I don't think he is crazy at all but the only way to tell is to see if he behaves according to the "rational actor*" model in a time of crisis (say a real show down with Israel or the U.S.). All the seemingly crazy things he says and does are meant to provoke us, and it works. His internal policies are consistent with someone who wants to retain power. And yes he and the way he treats his people is repugnant

* Saddam was not a rational actor, if he was, he would have let the inspectors look for the non-existent WMDs if in fact there were none. A sane person backs down when they know they are going to get hurt really bad.

About as crazy as a person who has cultivated an image of being a rugged cowboy but is afraid of horses and can't pronounce nuclear correctly.

Not to say that Iranian Prez is not a loonatic... But. He welcomes questions and does not prescreen his audiences like our own loonatic in the White House.

He's pretty crazy and in denial if he thinks there are no gays in Iran. What a moron.

He looks sane to me. I actually admire his ability to lie and manipulate the media; he is almost as good at it as I am. Almost.

Crazy like a fox.

He says what he does for two reasons -- one, to advance his political agenda, like any other politician -- and two, to push peoples buttons and get us riled up.
