Not really, I worked in the mental health feel for six years and seen to many mental ill people fall in between the cracks. They can come in for counseling as well as medication but they are left to defend for themselves. It takes a nation to fight for their rights the government is just not right. When their is no money there is no help. I hope this helps.

Yes, if they or a family member asks for it and are accepted. It is another long, government process. My brother is autistic, and is sent money to help with medical care and other financial burdens that resulted from his condition. There are also small groups that will help such as Regional Center, where my brother just got accepted.

very little, you just about have to be on the street. as an experiment call your local city hall and see how much help you get , all these programs have been cut to the bone
it is realy sad how little help you can get even with insurance for mental illness and drug dependency, even offers of paying up front with cash won't get you in the door...

They use to, President Carter said it was cruel and that it would be better to have them roaming the streets, he shut down the Federally funded mental institutions.. A large portion of the homeless people you see are mentally ill. Thanks Jimmy.

Yeah, Mental Hospitals are paid for by the government.

They can apply for Social Security just as a physically disabled person can.

not much since reagan cut the funding off. it's never been the same . still, there is social services, va, and medicare, but none of it is adequate, witness the homeless problem in america.
