I recently bought some shirts and a jacket and dont like the size of it. Is it possible for my local dry cleaner to make the shirt and jacket shorter so it looks better and will fit on me? If so how much does it usually cost and if dry cleaners dont do it is there any place I can go to to alter the size of the clothes? thanks!

My local dry cleaner offers an alteration service, but I'm not sure that all do. You might look in the Yellow Pages under "Alterations." I myself have had pants shortened for about $6 before. I guess every place charges differently.

Dry cleaners used to have tailoring and altering services but I doubt it any more. You might try a higher end clothing store or check out the yellow pages under clothing/alterations or, tailors/tailoring.

You need a tailor or a seamtress not a dry cleaner. Look in the yellow pages. Often your dry cleaners will offer a tailor service.

tumble dryer is usually the problem, check the label and see if it says not to tumble dry. depends also on the clothes you are talking about, i find my jeans shrink a bit in the wash but after wearing them for 10 minutes they fit again fine!! just needs to get that starchy stiffness out of them! if they say tumble drying is ok and they still shrink i would take them back to the shop and complain, they should give you a refund or replacement. new look clothes do tend to vary in size, try on a size 10 and just pick another up in exactly the same size, same top, same colour and it can be a completely different size i find. try everything on before you buy it!
