Picasso's art went through several very distinct stages but most people are only aware of his later art. Just like singers have to evolve and constantly be writing new songs and trying new styles, the same hold true with artists. Picasso would explore an idea, twist it around then try something else. He would 'push the envelope' so to speak. His early works were quite nice, very traditional and showed tremendous talent. He obviously was not content to stay at one level his entire life, repeating the same idea over and over again.
That would be like buying one dress or suit and wearing it to every wedding you went to for the rest of your life. Everyone wants something new, flashy, something different to wear.
Picasso expressed that desire in his changing styles and visions. Rather than a thousand words, perhaps his paintings simply said "Like this? Wait until you see my next one!"

Picasso was commenting on the fractured nature of himself, human beings, relationships and the world at large. What does it take to be whole? Parts of Picasso slipped away from himself throughout his life as it does many of us, he was aware of it. Most others are not.
Of those fractured parts, there are indivdual meanings.

Pickles...you should really research your artists before you begin slamming them. Picasso has some great work, and admittedly, some not so great. But that is true art. He followed his dreams and became an icon. That is what his work says...to thine own self be true.

He wasn't really saying anything, He was more like laughing at the people, enjoying how they all fell for what some people calls trend, honestly, he said, wow, I can't believe they pay me for whatever I happen to scribble. You got to love the man. Although he really could draw and paint like an angel, at the end he just did what he wanted and got away with it, laughing all the way to the bank.

Well, just because "a picture says a thousand words", it does not mean it says those words in a language that you understand.

I think he was saying that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
Probably.

He was seeing things in a different way & painting them in abstract. To be an artist (painter) you need to really look at things in depth.

That any subject can be seen from multiple points of view.
Sometimes in the same image.
