The three branches of government are organized into a system of checks and balances.
Each branch has a certain job and has been delegated a certain amount of power in decision making as well as the power to keep a check on the other branches. For example: The Judicial branch does not have the power to make law (as that is the job of the Legislative Branch) but they do have the power to declare a law unconstitutional. The President (Executive Branch) is the Head of our Military but only Congress (Legislative Branch) can declare war.
