what does mean??

not sure what you mean but/lives ? is something perhaps left out of this? if you read it " Reverence is a virtue, but is established law",,,,,, it is still confusing, do we have laws to force people to be reverent? to show honor or respect towards someone or something? i guess the "no flag burning" law is one, i am not sure if children are even required to say the pledge of allegiance anymore, i think most of our practices are done out of social "laws" or practices, not established legal laws
as to social mores or unspoken laws, we have many, how we speak to those in authority, how we behave in church or a courtroom , etc etc
