I've had several transvaginal ultrasounds with my 3 pregnancies. When you are early on they can do them to find out how far along you are because they get a better image than if they used the normal one. In my first pregnancy they used the transvaginal because I wasn't sure if I was 8 weeks or 12 weeks. They were able to barely see the heart beat, but found out I was only 8 weeks along. This was after a positive pregnancy test though.

Your first ultrasound SHOULD be a transvaginal. It's completely normal! They do a transvaginal because the fetus is so small, it is very difficult to see it with the other type of ultrasound done outside your abdomen. Don't worry! When you see your baby's heartbeat, you will know everything is alright! Good luck!

Transvaginal ultrasound means they use a wandlike thing that they stick in the vaginal and do the ultrasound that way. This is done in early pregnancies. I had one done with both of mine.
I had positive pregnancy tests.

I have gone for an transvaginal ultrasound before but I didn't find out I was pregnant. They just thought I had ulcers on my ovaries but they didn't see anything everything came back normal thank goodness but good luck.

yes I took a regular ultrasound to check my pregnancy and they couldn't see any thing just the womb so they did a transvaginal and you could see the baby and a beating heart.

i went to the hospital for really bad cramps on my side and the dr thought i had a cyst so they did an internal ultrasound and i was pregnant not even 4 weeks and they saw it. It is because they see from the outside of your cervix and not your abdomen so it is easier to tell if you are pregnant

At 4 weeks (when your period is due) you can't see anything yet, but the doctor can tell if the lining of your uterus has thickened. Ayt 5 weeks a gestational sac is seen, and at 6 weeks the baby and heartbeat is seen.
I had one at 6 weeks to make sure the baby was in my uterus. I saw the baby and heartbeat.
