This is something of a segue, but a relevant segue. Many people are consistently named immortal because a part of them has lived on long after their physical death. Every day you may hear them named immortal; The "immortal Bach," "the immortal
Shakespeare," " the immortal Bogart," "The immortal Gandhi." They may have thought themselves immortal in one manner or another. However, because there can be no questioning of them at this point on whether this is the immortality of which they may have thought, there is no answer.
