I have just sold a high priced item on ebay. I just wanted to know what is the best way to protect myself just in case a buyer reports that a item has not been received by them. I'm just concerned because of some weird circumstances have occurred during my auction. Someone posing as me sent emails to bidders on my item asking to sell my product outside of ebay. They seem to have guessed peoples email addresses by sending emails to their usernames and putting in gmail.com or hotmail.com.

Having the package delivered with a signature from the receiver is always the best way to cover your butt. The box can't be delivered without a signature from the receiving end. They can't say they didn't get it if you have their signature on the receipt from the post office or UPS.

Check feedback always. No refund will not work as it is not legal and in reality EBay will not allow 'no refund'. Before posting if you are wary check property on Google earth. Blocks of flats are not good news! A recent thing buyers do when they decide they are not happy or have overbid is to break the item and claim 'Item not as described! EBay will refund in their favour. They have no option. I think overall EBay has gone downhill and buyers/ sellers get a raw deal with all the high fees. The only option is to expect to write items off and lose money just hope that the profits cover those that manipulate the EBay rules.

I have been selling on ebay for years the best way to protect yourself is to only ship the address that paypal confirms and then buy insurance from the post office if you use them. If you use UPS or FEDEX the insurance is normally built into the shipping cost. hope that helps.
