Depends on your state law I guess, but, I've quit a job before and got unemployment. May not happen with you though. Next time, let yourslef get fired.

In general, when you quit a job (as opposed to being laid off) you are not eligible for unemployment. You can apply for unemployment - but expect to be turned down.

If your boss was abusive, the best thing to do would be to suck it up and continue working while you looked for another job. As soon as you get another job - get the heck out of dodge.

The only people whose opinions count here are the people at the unemployment office. Apply for it and if you are denied, appeal it. Tell the appeals judge why you quit, in detail. Bring specific examples of the abuse. There does not have to be discrimination. Physical abuse is enough to cause for you to quit, but you have to prove it.

Your boss is abusive? Report it, and you won't have to collect unemployment; you could have HIS job.
