First of all, all these people saying theyve played "teams that arent playing well" is crap. The same can said for Dallas against a bad Miami team and an underachieving Chicago team. Wasnt San Diego the predicted " AFC representitive in the Superbowl" in the preseason? Not to mention they shut down the reigning NFC Champion Bears. The Giants? Didn't they just knock off the 2-0 Washington Redskins and lit up the Cowboys defense? How about the Eagles? Didn't they just torch the 2-0 Detriot Lions? There is no excuses, all of these teams were playoff teams last year and Green Bay beat them all.
So to answer your question, YES they are for real, but theyre doing it very quietly and confidently. This isn't last years version of the Saints, riding the Katrina bandwagon and barely scrapping wins against teams. They are a very well rounded team. the offense is starting to produce, the defense is very good, the special teams is playing great, the ONLY drawback from them being the class of the NFC is the running game, which they should produce when Vernand Morency comes back and brings experimce and talent to the HB position.
Now are they as good as the Patriots? No. Are they as good as the Colts? No but close. Can they compete for the NFC North Division and the NFC Championship? ABSOLUTELY. Brett Favre looks like hes in MVP form again, the defense shows up every week, and once the running game gets going, this is a very dangerous team in the NFC.

They're clearly for real. Brett Favre is fully dedicating himself to the game for the first time in his career and is carrying the offense. He's going to have one of his better years.
However, the defense is the core of this team. Barnett and Hawk are 2 of the better linebackers in the league.
It also helps to be playing in a weak division. Minnesota looks awful (well, except for Adrian Peterson and their running back stuffing DTs). Chicago is dealing with their incompetent QB dragging them down the drain (you have to be awful to be shut down by the Cowboys defense) and their defense is starting to be affected (a few years ago, when the Ravens lost Kyle Boller and had Anthony Wright at QB, the defense fell apart and got torn up by Indy in the 2nd half after they shut Manning down for a half and then later self-destructed against the Lions; Anthony Wright was far better at QB than Rex Grossman, so Grossman is going to sink Chicago unless they bench him and I would personally give Kyle Orton the first shot at replacing him and go with Griese only if Orton doesn't work out). Chicago appears to be a 6-10 team at best. Detroit has a great passing game, but they don't do much else well. While they could win 8 or 9 games, it is hard to see them winning the division.
If Green Bay can go 7-6 the rest of the way, they'll be 10-6, which is the same record #2 seed New Orleans had last year. However, they'll probably need to win 12 to get the #2 seed (I expect the 49ers to finish 11-5 or so and win the West and either Carolina or Tampa to win 10 and take the South). While it is possible that they could make it to the NFC Championship, they aren't going to beat Dallas and therefore will be watching the Cowboys lose the Super Bowl (well, this is the 2nd rate NFC) to either New England, Indy, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore (San Diego isn't going to make the playoffs with Norv "Miserable Failure" Turner, Cincinnati is too weak on defense, and Houston will make the playoffs but has little chance of winning a Super Bowl) with everybody else.

It's actually a bit of both.
Defensively, this team is for real. The D is very tough, and has shown it by keeping some decent offenses in check.
Offensively, they are overachieving a bit. Favre is Favre -- Hall of fame QB who can still get it done. However, as Favre has shown more and more of as he ages, he is prone to flat games, and he hasn't had one yet this year.
Also, the receivers are a bit thin. Driver is great, but Jennings is inconsistent. The running game is also poor.
Green Bay has also benefitted a bit from a playing teams not playing so well, so the record is a bit deceiving.
Still, 3-0 is 3-0, and with that start it isn't out of the question to say this team is a darkhouse playoff contender. The Bears are vulnerable, Minnesota has no QB, so the door is open.
It would be a great way to go out for Favre.

They're a team that plays smart, mistake free football with a good defense. It's simple, the defense keeps them in the game and the offense scores when it can, punts when it can't. Capitalize on the other teams mistakes. Usually that equals a win. So, yeah, they're for real but not Super Bowl bound.

Cowboys and Packers are off to a good start, they will meet later this season and we'll know who's better. But to answer your question "yes" they're for real!

they are for real. i can't see them going to the super bowl though until they get that OL patched up and the running game opens up. favre gives the team hope though, and that defense looks very solid.

They are now respectable, not playoff material. They will probably lose this weekend to the Vikings.
