I flew over from Las Vegas (LAS) to Glasgow & returned via Heathrow and with a lay-over, it was about a 12 hour flight. A direct flight, if available, is about 10 hours. (I visited in August.)
Yes, there are regular bars in Vegas. Of note, you Englishman, is the Crown and Anchor - it is British style pub if you long for that. You will find the food and drink here really cheap compared to the UK. The American dollar is $2 for one of your pounds. America is a great place to visit because of this. Plus in Vegas, if you are gambling, they will comp your drinks (give them to you for free if you are playing). There are many buffet-style restuarants where you can eat as much as you want and you won't believe the amount of food available to you. The variety is also overwhelming. It is a great place to try new foods from all over the world.
Some things I would suggest to you are:
1. Check out downtown Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience. The hotels here are older and more vintage Vegas than the Strip.
2. The Grand Canyon is a short helicopter ride from Vegas. It is worth the price to see such a natural wonder.
3. Check out a show!

FYI -
The average tempurature in Vegas in November (the high) is 14 C. It is cold, but not wet. Bring a coat. I like Vegas in November. The crowds are typically less and the crisp weather is refreshing. (I live in CA, my parents live in Vegas.) So, feel free to email me if you have further questions, or would like an expert's tour of Vegas from a brass band babe. Cheers!

There are plenty of bars & pubs all over Vegas, not just in the hotels/casinos; if gambling you can drink for free. Otherwise, depending on the place, drinks are around $7 - $8 in most casinos; much cheaper in local bars; there are some really great food deals (especially the buffets) Not knowing what costs what in England, I cannot say if it's more expensive. I have lived here several years (from NY) and don't think it's very expensive. Look for deals, you can find them everywhere. Also, you can get really great hotel deals if you stay early in the week. You MUST check out downtown Las Vegas (Fremont St); great fun, bands, dancing in the street, prices cheaper than the Strip, including the hotels. Check out the Sushi Bar in Main Street Station. If you are staying on the Strip you can purchase a ticket to ride the Deuce (good for the entire day) it will take you to the downtown area. Have a great time visiting our Fabulous City!!

I don't know much about England, but Vegas deffinately has a ton of bars, every hotel has dozens of them, the casinos have bars, there's lounges, clubs, restaurants, strip clubs, even the rooms have bars sometimes. Vegas is pretty average as far as prices go unless you go to a club, cocktails are anywhere from $12-$20 each at clubs. Drinks are free if your gambling. I think a flight from the east coast will take about 6 hours. Try to stay in a hotel that's close to the center of the strip, like ceasar's palace or mandalay bay. It doesn't really matter what you do, your gonna have fun, it's an awesome city there's nothing else like it in the world. You should check out this website if you want some good ideas for things to do.

Almost every hotel has a bar or club. There is more than hotels. General prices all vary you can get a 1/2 pound hot dog for .99 burgers from 5 to 8. They have the same places to eat there is a McDonald's and Denny's and stuff like that you just have to be looking for it. Google it you'll be amazed at the stuff you can find.

Bars everywhere 24-7-365! Food is really good and really cheap! Stay at a mid-priced hotel! Cheapest ones are usually sleazy, and expensive is over-priced. Alcohol can be expensive, but if you are actively gambling, it is usually free. Take only as much money that you can afford to lose. Be aware of your surroundings at all times, and try to have a good time while here. Good luck!
