We were friendly with Iran up to the point that they took American hostages for us not giving them the Shah back.

We only let the Shah in US is because we placed him in power there so I guess we felt some what to blame for what the Iranian people were going to do to him if we did not take him in.

Friendship won't happen. The ruling extremists in Iran would prevent it.

And if the U.S. were to supply nuclear reactors to Iran then it should only be special "thorium" reactors which can not be used to make nuclear weapons. Also, Iran doesn't need nuclear power plants. It has the 2nd largest supply of natural gas reserves in the world. It would take centuries to extract and use all of the country's natural gas.

About being friends, young people in Iran may go for being friends. The average people in Iran are trying to become very westernized (to their standards) and the mullahs in charge are trying to block it.

Iran is now arresting men that have Hollywood style haircuts and women that wear too much makeup.

The neocons would have a very hard time swallowing the "oil" pill. Peace would break out in mass quantities. The Saudis would cry and the Isrealis would jump off a mountain top again. It would never happen ie; We imposed a ruthless dictator in Iran (The Shaw), We threatened them with war and bombings, we also threaten to let Isreal loose on Iran (there's a real mistake).

Iran president paves the way for arabs' imam return
Nov 17, 2005

His call for the destruction of Israel may have grabbed headlines abroad, but it is President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's devotion to a mystical religious figure that is arousing greater interest inside Iran.

In a keynote speech on Wednesday to senior clerics, Ahmadinejad spoke of his strong belief in the second coming of Shi'ite Muslims' "hidden" 12th Imam.

According to Shi'ite Muslim teaching, Abul-Qassem Mohammad, the 12th leader whom Shi'ites consider descended from the Prophet Mohammed, disappeared in 941 but will return at the end of time to lead an era of Islamic justice.

"Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi," Ahmadinejad said in the speech to Friday Prayers leaders from across the country.

"Therefore, Iran should become a powerful, developed and model Islamic society."

**********************************
"Today, we should define our economic, cultural and political policies based on the policy of Imam Mahdi's return. We should avoid copying the West's policies and systems," he added, newspapers and local news agencies reported.

Nope, not gonna happen..

Well, they hate Al Queada.
They've repeatedly said that the US could be their ally.
We might actually get Osama Bin Laden with the support of a country that borders Iraq and Afghanistan.
Or we could bomb them, alienate the pro-US faction inside Iran, that is never reported BTW, and see a backlash when they strike our troops in Iraq.
The whole goal has nothing to do with Iran.
The goal is to expand the mess for the next President to clean up.

I think it's pretty obvious that you haven't been paying attention to that little prayer that Armpitjob says before he gives a speech. Let me translate that gem for you. He's praying for the swift retun of the Mahdi because he's a twelver. If you don't know what that means, Google it but the short answer is, he's praying for WAR and THE END OF DAYS!

Now, knowing that, suppose you tell the rest of us what putting a nuke in his hands is going to produce. Keep in mind that he calls Israel the Little Satan and the US the Great Satan.

It's more outside the realm of possibility.

oil prices would be cut 2/3 overnight. terrorism from shia radicals would stop. in fact, iran already hates al qaeda, being bin ladin is sunni and iran is shia.

they were a true democracy at one time. in 1953, mossadeq was most loved and highly popular among the iranians. he nationalized iran's oil fields and kicked out all foreign oil companies, including BP(british petroleum). in operation ajax, the cia overthrew mossadeq and installed the shaw of iran. shaw means king in arabic. in 1979, you saw the iranian revolution when they overthrew the shaw, took US hostages when they raided our embassy and modern day terrorism was born. we are suffering today from this war on terror because the US and british governments were kicked out of iran's oil fields. during this time was the first time we staged false flag terror attacks. there have been many others since. kinda been the cia's and mossad's trademark ever since.

I think that we could really bring about good will if we'd just skip the selling of technology step, and give them nukes. Then they'll know we trust them, and they'll want to be nice to us and all our allies.

And then Dorothy sings "Somewhere over the rainbow"

They would use that nuclear technology to build a missile, and twenty minutes later one would land in Israel. President Ahmenijad (sp) has repeatedly pronounced that Israel should be "wiped off the face of the Earth" (his words). You can't trust a madman like that, and you don't hand a gun to a man who already wants to shoot your friend.

israel would absolutely go off its rocker. israel is our jealous girlfriend.

if we befriended iran, israel would most likely step up its terrorism against palestine and lebanon.

it would force iran to publically denounce israel (again) and then force us to do the same.

israel would be in a lot of **** from that point on.
