Ok, I was thinking about dropping my math class before the deadline. I have 13 credit hours and if I drop it it will go to 9 credit hours. Would that be ok? How would I go about this? Im doing this because Im not doing so good in it and my teacher is kinda biased and I tried to just do my work but its not doing good and he isnt fair. Help please?

This will probably drop you down to part time status (which can cause problems in financial aide) BUT if you're having issues with this class and instructor I would bail, until I had more time to devote to the class, and until I could get a different instructor. Thats one of the perks of college. You should be taught by who you want.

It would be better to drop than to make a failing grade if you are honestly making the effort but not the grades my suggestion would be to drop and retake it when you have an easier course load when you can apply more effort to the class. If it would help drop back a level in the math dept instead of advanced algebra for instance take intermediate for example.

If you drop you will get a W and it will affect your percentage passing which means next semester if your percentage passing isn't enough you won't get financial aid without an appeal granted. Your attempted hours divided by your completed hours has to equal the percent your school has set to get financial aid. If you really feel like you can't make it drop it because if you fail it will really bring your gpa down and if your percentage passing goes down you could always take and pay for one class to bring it up.

The only thing I would caution against...if you are getting financial aid..it drops you below the full time course load minimum. You may have to pay back some financial aid.

If you still want to do it, you just need to go to your registration office, fill out the drop form and turn it in. Sometimes, you may have a course drop fee.

Other than that, welcome to college. Most profs are great....some...especially those with tenure... can be jerks.

Yes you can drop it if it will affect your gpa. I will advise that many institutions frown upon people who drop course too much. For instance at mines they begin adding an extra fee to a course after you have dropped it more than twice. So you may want to watch the number of times you drop.

As well check your student handbook for your school's policy.

If you have any financial aid (scholarships, grants, etc.), you'll probably lose it if you go under 12 hours since you will no longer be a full time student. Don't drop it unless you can't avoid it.

Talk to someone in your registrar's office.

When you do -- drop the attitude. Don't blame your professor for your inability to do the work.
