Why are we here on earth? What is it that we were meant to do? What is purpose of life. What is the point of life? Those type of questions require God.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (Nobel Laureate and philosopher)

If God exists, He must have put our great need for meaning and purpose into our nature in order to point us to seek Him. So seeking God is our purpose.

But if we reject God, then life is purposeless, meaningless and pointless. So if we reject God, we need to invent "purposes" and pretend that they are real so we won't go insane or commit suicide. Usually these invented pretend "purposes" are designed to make us feel good about ourselves (boost our ego) and/or keep us busy so we won't think about a pointless existence.

Living is the point. Go to college, it may help you do a better job at it. You're not going to make that much of a difference simply dying poor, and without an education you're far less than likely to be heard by anyone in any way that can really make a difference. You don't start any career at the top, education or not. Work is hell and drudgery, even more so for those without qualifications. There aren't any Carnegies today, you won't make the bucks just by pulling on your own bootstraps. "Rich" is something that has nothing to do with a bank account, but without a penny in your pocket it's not very likely either. On the other hand if you don't go to college you'll just make way for at least another job to go to Pakistan, India, or China, so you'll be feeding the starving people there if that's the difference you want to make.

[ Don't put your life on "hold" while you're in college, there are a helluva lot of things you can and should do to make a difference while you're there. I didn't get my degrees with parents paying for it. I worked as an orderly in hospitals and nursing homes and cooked in a diner. In college I met and married a wonderful woman, who also worked and helped put me through. Nearly forty years later she also finished her degree in Nursing, something she promised her mom. After all those years there were still many valuable things she learned from it. The degree didn't add a dollar to her earnings, she was already at the top of the salary scale for RN's before she set out to get it. Our daughters also went to college and met and married wonderful husbands there. The eldest one now teaches, if you go to the right college it's likely you'll take one of your freshman courses with her. Just now I'd suggest that the best thing you could possibly do is find and get into an Outward Bound course. It's fun. It's challenging. It makes a difference. It's less than a month's commitment and looks great on any resumé. Talk it over with your folks and see if you can get an application from your school counselor.]

Go to college. You will never hear any one say they regret going. The POINT is to add to your experiences. You will be able to take them with you. You could always choose to help the poor. Think legal-aid or even a career in social services. Plus, dying poor really is not so much fun. Look at it this way, you can be in a low paying endless job, living most likey with your mom for a long time, or you can hit college and be in a endless higher paying job living on your own, not needing to rely on anyone!

Its you who makes the decision maybe you want to sleep under a bridge and wait for the sun to come out day after day. Or maybe you want to make a good carreer in which youll meet people with the same interests as you. You dont have to be a work addict once you graduate, you can lead a great life with a good paying job and still have a LIFE. Take this from me, college is the best time of your life. But no pressure the decision is clearly upto you =)

I'll tell you this. If you are going to try to save the world it would help to have money. And college is a good thing because it furthers your mind and your thinking. I don't work in the field my degree is in but I loved going to school and learning new things and opening my mind to worlds I didn't know existed. College is a great thing and it isn't only about getting a job in the future. Plus think about it... you won't have anything more than you have now if your poor. Do you want to live w/ mom forever?

Life is a journey and it is for you to find out what your calling is in life... There is no right or wrong thing to be while you're on Earth as long as you don't hurt others, you do not contribute to the suffering or pains of others, and if possible try if you can to ameliorate the pains and woes that you see in society (this is not mandatory of course) then whatever it is you find yourself doing or being after you reach a certain age of maturity then that might very well be your calling in life... but it is far from being the terminus, age is by no means an indicator of when one should stop striving to achieve what YOU believe is your calling in life. So Stop dreaming and Start doing... life is short after all.

College doesn't guarantee you a boring, good-paying job. In fact, college is the best place to expose yourself to all different schools of thought, fields of study, etc. If you go to college, you may discover you're a brilliant photographer or that you would like to study anthropology to visit third world countries to help out some day. Nothing is more valuable than an education because it opens your mind. People who go to college to get a good job someday are going for the wrong reasons. Everyone should go to college just to see how many different things there are out there to learn.

Let me guess.....you've grown up with a good home, things you want and need......you are going to go down. You need to live in a home where things are TOUGH and you barely make it - no matter how hard you work (because you don't have a college education and therefore you have to work harder - maybe 2/3 jobs just to eat) --- and if you have a college education.....the world can be open for you. And if you decide later to live like you say here (yes, even after you graduate college) then you STILL HAVE that option. DON'T SCREW UP YOUR LIFE!! Sorry -- siding with your mom here.

maybe u r saying that because at the moment u have everything ...food ,water, clothes ,house...u hardly pay anything... but when u get into the real world u will need MONEY ...to get u all the stuff u now have for free.
also if ur parents are paying 4 ur studies u r lucky ...u are making it up the ladder easily ...i am 26 and still struggling u get a decent education....
i always hear this kind of stuff from kids and teen that dont understand the value of money because they dont have any bills to pay yet!

dying in poverty sound easy and fashinoable to u now but actually going through it is a misery and u will wish never to die due to it

you can go to college and make something of yourself and become rich and be one of the few that make a difference...b/c in life now you have everything you need but what happens when you're on your own?? Money isn't the key to happiness but why add to the struggle of life adding money to the equation?
