I am dealing with my mother's estate right now and my advice would be to look into getting a living trust, go the extra step so your loved ones won't have to go through probate. Having a will isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm an only child and my mother had a will, it still has to be probated, meaning lawyer and court cost for me.

a will written in plan english on plain paper is legal
put down what is to go to whom,
what is to be divided equally.who gets the
house,or car.
make a list of items to be disposed of my
sale,
pick a exzeter of the will.
put down in sound in body and mind,
this is my last will and testamony.

Many sites -- nolo.com and findlaw.com being two of them -- just make sure the forms are the ones that meet the requirements for your state.
