As the Brits come to their senses and revert to thousands of years of DIPLOMACY and Discussions.... doesn't this just expose the Bush regime as immature, irrelevant and war mongering....

Like in Ireland you STILL HAVE TO TALK TO THE ENEMY!!! Lesson there, State Department.

Talking to the enemy? You mean the American people? The Brits aren't proposing that, are they?
The US is no good at diplomacy. Nobody wants our capitalism, our lack of civil liberty we call 'freedom'. The dark world of the Realists, that they used to scare the population into weapons funding, has worked all too well. It is within this world that neither political party disagrees. Neither poses any principled opposition to a rogue Executive; both support the ends, and don't mention the obvious, the fait accompli, the withdrawal of the weapons inspectors (Scott Ritter, Hans Blix, etc) and the invasion of the oil fields of the former British oil colony they named Iraq. The US doesn't ahve the knack for diplomacy. Fact is, after the US gets ahold of liberty and democracy and rule of law, nobody else in the rest of the world wants much to do with it. Not one other nation in our 225 year history has any other nation willingly adopted our style of government. Most choose the far more democratic republicanism of proportional representation, rule closer to consensus. Such failure by the ruling class to broaden civil liberties, and in their unwavering pattern of opting for order over justice (ably assisted by their 'liberal press' lap-dogs) is not a coincidence or by accident.
A Police State is much more to the liking of American business elites, The billions of tax money supporting over 750 (many quite lavish by US standards) military bases in practically all of the countries on the planet, is a colonial military empire. When anyone is a potential dissident, everyone is suspect. The huge sums poured through the Pentagon and supporting all of those bases have NOTHING to do with the the defense of the US. But if you're a Realist, you live in a world that assumes anarchy, and the worst nature of man. Certainly, man is capable of great evil, but that does not exhaust man's abilities or drives. But as a capitaist, all resources must have price tags, and available for sale to the highest bidder. Everything becomes as a commodity. Everything will have its price, even Justice.
The US maintains, at tremendous expense, a military Keynes-ian system, which socializes the cost of weapons research, and earns income through the fomenting and arming of allies and officail enemies alike. After all for the Realist, it's win-win-win. War is good for business; Surplus people are dying, making fewer people after the scarce resources; The ruling class keeps the important spending decisions of the Republic secret, under the cloak of 'executive privalege' or 'national security'. Let's not forget that the CIA is a branch of the Executive and serves at the direction of the President. We are mistakenly given the impression by the liberal media that the CIA is some kind of rogue organization, when it is not. It makes no decisions, only supplying information and formulating 'plans' as the President may direct. When the American people are successfully convince that there are dangerous drug lords and tyrants (spontaneously generating in that tropical climate, it would seem) in the aftermath of the Monroe Doctrine, where no other foreign power can be blamed, that inconvenient fact is quickly forgetten. How quick the US intelligencia was to point the finger at the former USSR for the state of their former Republics. No criticism can be found in the liberal media for even worse conditions in the US's vassal banana republics with US-trained and financed death squads, torture instructors from Georgia's School of the Americas to indoctinate and train foreign quislings to act as another nations' prison guards for the Masters in the North. The colonels must be wined and dined, and be at the ready in case the officer corps are needed to effect a military coup in case the puppet leader gets too big for his britches, and shows signs of independence. The US master's CIA and State Dept., the mailed fist of the Pentagon, will have none of it, always at the ready. Ways less obvious, ways more subtle against the real enemy, the domestic population, are used to keep us distracted from such things. We argue Republican or Democrat, and meanwhile the theives have already left the building. The ruling class just sends in the clowns. Forget that the money that could be going to provide everyone a decent life in the so-called greatest country on earth. Forget that the reason your roads are awful and you have no healthcare or pay the world's highest prices for medicine. Forget that our cities falling apart, that our poor are poorer, our rich are richer, and comprise a smaller percentage than corrected for by population. Forget that we spent millions and billions on things whose sole purpose is to kill or threaten to kill. Other than that, it is pure wasted money.

Getting atop the oil in Iraq to shut off the supply makes good strategic and economic sense. It allows the US to disregard the old contracts with Germany and France, and control the strategic resource. Notice how the US has turned off the spigot to raise oil prices. The fact is, there has been an oil glut for a very long time now, but since the 1970s, the oil corps have 'wisely' not built any refineries, so the 'scarcity' results in higher prices. Why should the US want higher oil prices? Because the value of the US dollar is based on petroleum, and when the price of oil rises, the value of the dollar rises. Any capitalist empire must control strategic resources, that's the key to state military capitalism, the socialized kind we have in the US, at any rate. The State Dept.'s job is to forestall negotiations, and accuse the enemy du jour of being 'unrealistic', when I'd bet the opposite is really the case. The US is surrounding China with bases, and Iran is next. It also will allow for a shorter pipeline for UnoCal. Win-win.
The US is reaching the limits of its support for the military. Social needs have gone unmet for decades, sacrificed first on the altar of anti-communism, now on the altar of anti-terrorism. Both parties administrations, when faced with the necessity of budget cuts, cut the social programs, and maintain or increase Pentagon spending. This has had a significant eroding effect over time, which again, is no accident.
So, final answer, no the US should not talk to its enemies. It's a charade, and everyone knows it. The US is going to do what the US wants to do, and will manufacture and believe all the evidence it can.

Battle of Britain was won before America was forced to join the war. If it hadn't been won by the UK before USA got involved then the D-Day landings never could have happened and the Soviets would have taken Europe. I've put some rough statistics of military deaths below. Notice how about 20 times the number of Soviet soldiers died than USA soldiers, that's because they did most of the fighting in WW2, not UK and USA. Had it the Soviets and Nazis made a peace deal the Nazi empire would have easily won the war. Nazi Germany 5,000,000 Soviet Union 8,000,000 USA 416,000 UK 382,000 (also I am the grandson of a American-British relationship started during the war, so I don't have anything against Americans just ignorant people like you)

And stop being the 'bully boy' president! Perish the thought. The difference with the Brits is that they can put forth an honest and coherent thought in meeting with the 'enemy' and are able to negotiate. This administration is only capable of sticking it's tongue out at the ambassador and sending more troops before the Supreme leader goes back to his coloring book...his minions who would be the negotiating team take their cues from him.

Never mind the lesson the Brits may be learning - how about our own recent history???

Ronald Reagan was ALWAYS in contact with the Soviet Union and debated them time and again about civil rights. Pope John Paul II even supported and aided Reagan in his efforts!

The present administration is simply a bunch of corrupt and incompetent bozos.

Of course we should. Iran and Syria are players whether we like it or not.

Bush doesn't want to admit he's wrong. Talking to the enemy as Bush puts it would put his so called "Strategy" at risk.

At first the enemy was Bin Laden - Then Afganistan because he was there really he was !

Then the enemy was Iraq - Sadam Hussien was the enemy -

Now the enemy is Iran -

In Afganistan the Opium crop has gone up not down - There is a rumour that the crop went down because the Taliban were getting people to plant food -

Not to give credence to rumours but before the American attack and then the Canadians who were there before the attack but then their mission changed from building schools to killing Taliban - after the US attacked -

The crops of drugs went up and has been steadily increaseing - I have no idea how drugs could be going up when the US Canadian and British army are there but it has

Perhaps that lunatic ex LA cop who worked narcotics was right the CIA was dealing the drugs in LA - and they believed that god = Gold Oil Drugs I will try to find you the link to his lengthy video presentation

But of course he is only a nut because America's enemies (plural now) are the ones doing all the bad stuff in the world

Iraq was harbouring WMD - but Sadam while hiding in a fox hole in the middle of the desert hid them by smuggling them and Osama out of Iraq in the nick of time to Pakistan and or Iran perhaps both at the same time

So this great enemy of the US who was found in a hole in the ground was taken out - Oh thank the god - or at least the o part of god the d part seems to be Afganistan

I am not sure what happened to the g part of god but I do understand it is no longer in fort Knox - the federal reserve is "holding it" for the American people

Of course the federal reserve is as federal as federal post but I am sure they won't do anything untword with tons and tons of the g part of god - No not them it is unthinkable

Now Iran - yes they are going to be a problem - They want a nuclear power plant and that technology from the best and brightest of nuclear scientists in the US says that means they will be able to produce a nuclear bomb in about a decade - You can see why the urgency - and why there is no time to negotiate or talk to them -

Personnaly I am not in favour of Iran developing nuclear weapons at all

But if we talked to them and ran it through Russia who they trust we might get our way or closer to it than we are right now

But apparently god still needs more vowels than he currently has - so - then

The bid to take over the world has begun

You see Russia has an oil line from Iran to Russia Oh yes there are some people out there that rightly point out Russia exports oil - So does the US - no one mentions that - onsult the CIA's world fact book available online -

The peak oil production was to hit in 2005 - What makes a commodity valuable is rareity and if you happen to have a surplus of what is rare -

People also forget esp with all the talk of nuking Iran that the distance between Iran and Russia is about the same as the distance between South Carolina and New York - Attacking Iran conventionally or with nukes is going to be very close to Russia and winds change direction they might not take kindly

China who has no surplus nor export of oil is an up and coming oil consumer who buys from Iran - They also hold the US by the nuts when it comes to money -

But no matter take over Iran or at least cease the oil fields and you will be able to dictate to China

Yes yes China we owe you money that will be a million dollars a barrel or we could talk about an interest rate reduction either way your choice

Do not think they don't see that one coming they do - They know that if the US can dictate to them they will and enjoy it all the way to the bank

Solves the debt problem - And all this time you thought there was no plan on the part of the Republicans -

They win they rule the entire globe they lose there won't be a globe to rule so who cares anyway Jesus will save us

Scared yet ? Watch Fox - America's enemy Osama - forget him I mean Afganistan no no Sadam no no Iran yes thats it Iran

Yes Iran is a theocratic nation with little freedoms for it's people and all that -

But Saudi Arabia is an out and out old fashioned Monachy and recently I heard women are pettiioning for the right to drive

No one is putting their King on Fox and surprise surpirse a few enemies ago that Osama guy ? Saudi Arabia is his place of birth and another one - The majority of the "hyjackers" Saudi

No one is threatening to bring freedom and democracy to them - Or China or the majority of Africa - Hmm I guess they don't have enough "god" to bother with or it would be too much trouble for them

Either way god is leading them to Iran at the moment and you can tell because Fox says so - and believe me they know where god is God tells Bush and then Bush tells Fox where god is and they go looking for him

So as to your absurd idea of talking to these people - no, no that won't work because it may resolve the problem and that is not what is needed here if your going to try to "maintain and win multiple theatre of wars" quote taken from the government document America for the new centruy "

Maintaining multiple theatres of war does not involve a lot of talking now does it ?

So you can now see how silly the idea is I am sure -

Now all that has to happen as apparently was enough for an arial campaign in both Afganistan and Iraq all we really need is an old lady to identify Bin Laden shopping for oranges in Iran - and that will be that

Sure you need to talk, as long as the other party isn't using the conversation to stall. (Iran talks a good game but is still building their nuke)
