Actually -- he never personally said the Holocaust didn't happen -- at least, I've never seen a quote by him to that effect -- what he did was host a Holocaust deniers conference -- because he knew that people would be outraged and he enjoys pushing their buttons.

Not everything that comes out of his mouth is automatically a lie -- if he looks up at a clear blue sky and says it's a nice day --- the fact that he says is doesn't make it automatically untrue.

But he is a politician -- and politicians lie as part of their daily activities -- and in his case, he'll say whatever it takes to get people riled up -- because that's his plan and his goal.

No, I don't trust him -- but that puts him about the same level as most politicians in my book.

Actually from my listening on the news today it said that when pressed, he accepted it happened but that it happened in Europe and as such, the Palestinians should not be punished for it. I believe though that effectively, they are the ones who have been punished for it. Because of it, they have lost their homes in what is now Israel. But that's water under the bridge. I accept Israel's right to exist and defend itself - it's just sad that in asserting that right, it has trampled on the rights of the Palestinians.

Some people are easily swayed by a silver tongue, regardless of the speaker's actions or history. That's how most politicians here get themselves elected, too. In Ahmadinejad's case, listening to people applaud him despite of all he's done and said before is a stark sign at just how gullible and ignorant some Americans have become in the last few decades.
