There are three commonly used isotopes of carbon. C-12 and C-13 are stable. C-14 is radioactive. All have 6 protons in the nucleus. They have 6, 7, or 8 neutrons in the nucleus.

Allotropes are different physical forms of the same element. For carbon these are soot (amorphous), graphite (pencil lead), and diamond.

Isotopes used in medicine are thallium-201 for nuclear stress tests and technetium-99m, which is replacing Tl-201 for this. Tc-99m has other medical uses. Maybe wikipedia has them.
