in super mario brothers 3 whaat dose the anchor do?

i was playing super marios and i beat the game then i did something special like collecting all the coins and they gave me an anchor u get the anchor in the blue mushroom i have no idea how to use it and where to use help me im very curious and want to know

It keeps the Hammer Bros. from moving around the map - as sometimes they will block the path to the next level ;););)

if you dont beat the last boss on the map it will become a ship that moves somewhere on the map if you have the anchor it wont move
