most stainless steel cookware is made from 18/8 or 18/10 which is absolutely safe , even if made in china . Most china made cookware is junk, Good s/s cookware is fully clad (laminated bottom and sides)or has a thick disc bottom, both prevent most burns Clad is the best..cast iron looses some iron while cooking so that would be (good for you) avoid Teflon (cancer) Stick with the best cookware you can afford All-Clad is the best as viewed by some check out Costco Kirkland brand set about $200, its a good deal .You'll need to add a 12 inch skillet however (not in set) Stainless steel set..

I like to use 18/10 stainless steel cookware. As far as healthy, many claim that cast iron is best. You probably have heard all the problems with teflon coatings.

Teflon although used the most is not that healthy, due to the fact that teflon itself is harmful to the body, if consumed. So if you have scratched teflon pots and pans, I would get rid of them.
Cast iron is also not so healthy, since the oil residue is stuck
on the porous surface and does not clean well.
Like teflon enamel cookware also has the risk of chipping and loosing its safe quality.
Although stainless has nickel, it is reported to be the safest. It heats well, cleans well (no remaining oils on the surface) and no chipping... The problem is learning to cook with stainless without burning the food. It is also a breeze to clean even if food is burnt, by rinsing the pans and pots when hot; and washing as usual in the dishwasher.

it depends on how healthy you are. all metal cookware made from ferrous or none ferrous metals contain metals such as brass, copper, zinc, nickel, chrome, silicon, magnesium, manganese, and many more. which are used to make stainless steel copper and aluminium cookware. items made from clay, porcelain and glass would reduce the health risk.
what about all the other metal and plastic items found in a normal kitchen?

Glass is pretty good, except that you have to keep the temperature at a reasonable level. I would pick cookware made in North America or Germany.

I prefer stainless steel, with a thick bottom. 5 or 7 ply. Doesnt matter where it's made. Try bar keepers friend to clean it. What I wouldnt use is Teflon. It's great for a frying pan, but once the teflon starts letting loose, throw out the pan, because if that gets in your system, it can be very unhealthy.
