the escalation of taxation on cigarettes?

why do cigg. smokers have to subsidize everything in america? every time ya turn around, they add a tax. its not fair.

i know if i start a fire and repeatedly inhale the smoke, eventually ill get sick n die.- im ok with that.- i guess some morons got big settlements and now er'one thinks its ok to tax, tax, tax

if u or a loved one got a big settlement cuz ya smoked for years and got sick, GROW UP AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY.

ppl dont die from 2nd hand smoke, so throw that b.s. away
if ya dont like the smell, DONT ALLOW IT IN UR HOME/CAR ETC ETC.
its bad enough we cant go to restaurants or bars anymore

Right on!!! How about how smokers are supposed to pick up the bill for kids insurance. I can pay little porky's doctors appointment but can't enjoy a beer and a Marlboro light, huh?

This is what I'm gonna do if that dumb law passes, when I see porky out in a restaurant eating two double cheeseburgers, large fries with chili, and a banana split to top it off with his obese parents who are so health
conscience (yeah right) I'm going to light up, even if its a non smoking facility, go right over and blow smoke right in front of all their chubby faces and stick them with the bill from MY cigarettes.

I guess if smokers actually start to take responsibility for their actions then it would be possible to let smokers smoke all they wanted and do away with the taxes.

This means that if you get an illness from smoking such as emphysema or lung cancer you will pay all of your medical bills and expenses 100% out of your own pocket and not expect an insurance company or the government to foot the bill. Also, if you cannot pay for it then you sit back and just enjoy the fact that you were able to smoke and let the disease take you over.

As it is right now, smokers are putting a strain on the medical system. They are using up too much money that should be going to other people. The smokers are wasting money by causing treatments to happen that could have been avoided if the smoker had just decided to not smoke. A few states have sued the tobacco companies to try to get money to help pay back some of these bills.

I personally would like to see the tax go above $100 a pack.

I don't smoke and as a matter of fact I hate smoke. But, as a conservative I think you should be able to smoke when and where you want. It is my choice to go to a restaurant that allows smoking if don't like it I can simply just no go there. The difference is if libs don't like what you do they try to stop it with tax. I think the main question is "When people quit smoking all together are the that programs these smokers funding going to stop, and if not where is the money going to come from?"

Well it sucks, but how else do liars and thieves get money out of people. Purely by bullying the nation. Cuz they got police, and the Law and all these important things, they keep telling you that are important and no one can live without them...when you can and we all have to get to this point in evolution and they should really go F*** themselves , cause ppl are responsive to rise taxes, through violence. Hint Hint...gues what! The police force and Law get to be exercised on the people, so YOu see...it's Important to those "VIP's" for everyone to know they are lieing b*st*rds, hike taxes for some made up reason, and display to the public how much better they are than everyone else.
So yes Taxes do suck and so does this world we live in.

Here it is in a nutshell. Smoking costs the government multitudes of millions in health care every year. That much is a fact. Now if cigarette smokers would promise to buy their own health insurance and never take a dime from the tax payers whether in health care OR time lost, then maybe you may get somewhere. Hey I feel for you, I was a two pack a day person until one day I had chest pains. I quit that day and never went back. Good luck, but they are going to continue to test your resolve. Many politicians smoke.

By escalation of taxes on tobacco, the elitists have stepped on the personal rights of the individual and the working class is hurt the most.Even though i don't smoke cigarettes idon't like the idea of someone making the rules for all, but putting the the cost on the few. Enough is Enough!!!

Sorry but people DO die from second hand smoke. I myself have endured horrible bronchitis & other crap my whole life b/c my parents smoked in the damn house when I was a baby & my mom smoked WHILE pregnant with me causing me to be 2 months premature. The only thing I don't like about the non smoking laws regarding bars is it will pollute the OUTSIDE air more with so many chain smokers. You can still fo to restaurants & bars. You just can't smoke there.

Evidently enough people agreed with the fact it IS damaging & disgusting to get these laws passed. Plus THC DOESN'T cause any damage & that's illegal but tobacco KILLS but it's legal. THAT IS BS IMO!

I feel for you. I drink beer. Someday my beer belly is going to explode and the taxpayers (I guess I never paid taxes) are going to have to clean up the mess. So, those nosy busy bodies put a tax on my beer. What a crock. Where is the tax on greasy food and fat lazy people?

Get smart dude. buy your smokes tax free on the black market. Only a fool pays cigarette taxes.
