I have $400. in my checking, monthly income of $1280, and expenses of 1300. I'm losing hope.

Sounds like you have to cut expenses first - wherever possible. Second, you need to look into raising your income either with a better paying job or a second job to supplement your income.

At this point, and the info you gave, maybe you could cut down the exspenses.
I don't know what you have, and what you need to have, but if you could cut about $400 maybe, you would have an extra $450 or so to save. Saving is key. It will get you where ever.
But one thing you need to keep in mind, you can't loose hope. You need to just work through it. It will take a little time!
You will be fine.
Don't like people be mean to you, like that first guy/girl woh ever it was.

Reduce your expenses to $5 below your income and you will feel like a princess.

Most of us apply for better paying jobs and
Get a 2nd job to tide us over until the better paying offer comes through .

Increase your income to at least $2,560.00 with a second job or a Community College Degree and reduce your expenses to at least $650.00
Buy some candles.
Cancel your telephone.
Cancel your television.
