The citizen-soldiers who fought for the Confederacy personified the best qualities of America. The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South's decision to fight the Second American Revolution. The tenacity with which Confederate soldiers fought underscored their belief in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. These attributes are the underpinning of our democratic society and represent the foundation on which this nation was built.
Today, the Sons of Confederate Veterans is preserving the history and legacy of these heroes, so future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause.
The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendents of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.
Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces
They are definitely NOT a white supremacy group, no more than the members of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) would be. They are a veterans association. What bothers many people, is that they were veterans of the civil war, on the losing side. It is our history, like it or not. People need to stop pretending it did not happen, and quit vilifying people who live in the south and want to remember and honor our war dead.

I believe you are referring to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, it is a Fraternal Order of the descendants of those that fought on the side of the Confederacy during the War Between the States. The Union Soldiers descendants had a similar Order but I have forgotten the name of it. No they are not a White Supremacy group. Most of them just gather to honor the memory of their ancestors, but I suppose some of them are perhaps white supremacist, that is not their main focus. As I was typing I think the name of the Northern Counterpart was the Grand Army of the Republic. The SCV has a sister group called the UDC United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Although some of thier members may think that way, the organization isn't based on hate.
They are a group of Civil War history buffs that do reenactments of battles as a hobby. Their members play both roles, north and south, and it is interesting to go see.
Way back when, in order to join you had to be a decedent of someone who served in the Confederate Military, but I don't think that is a requirement any longer.
There are similar groups in the northern states around PA and NY where I grew up.

Their members would say no, they're not a white supremacy group, they are a heritage group. They want to celebrate and appreciate the heritage of their brave forbears who fought for and supported the confederacy. Some would say that this means celebrating a heritage which supported slavery and white supremacy. Members would vehemently disagree.
