Do you want to know how much gets a teacher in Greece?
I teach ancient greek and modern greek language and literature, history, philosophy and latin language.
I am working for 7 years and I get 1400 Euros monthly.
When i was teaching in last high school grades I was studying even 7-8 hours per day after my job (normally about 6 hours).
Hopefully I am married (to much studying to have personal life when you are a young teacher...).
So, it is not just 3 the reasons to become a teacher (June, July,August) but only one: love love love for this profession.
(To tell you the truth, if I started today, I would probably select a more rewarding and better paid job).

Michigan teachers make more than 34 k starting, I started over 41k and most school districts around me start at least at 38k.
I heard one person who got paid by the hour, it was 50 dollars an hour and I don't remember why it wasn't salary. But she didn't get annual raises like most teachers do, just contract % increases.

In the United States, teachers are salaried workers. I wish we DID get paid by the hour. I would be a millionaire by now!

I teach in Detroit, Michigan and it is NOT enough.
WE have to buy our own supplies because the school do not have the books, pencils or paper...and LOTS more.
We always have too many kids and it ends up being babysitting not just teaching...
I would rethink this whole thing!

It's not by the hour. We are salaried. In Michigan it is typical to start at around $34,000 a year.
