No. It just means that you're busy learning the basics of algebra.
By the time you finish high school, it won't make one whit of difference.

In today's world I am surprised that you haven't had Algebra since first grade. I went to old school. Unless you were going to be a technical person you didn't need Algebra. So when it came time for me to start college I had had absolutely no experience. I was assigned College Algebra I . There wasn't any way that I would make this work. So I began taking class after class. Well I finally was placed in Pre-Algebra that worked. The next Algebra I class that I took the instructor was a super math professor. I made it. I figured that I would not use it again. I was wrong. It came up in most everything that I did as a Small Water Utilities Manager.
So pay very good attention to this class. You may be there and your friends in Algebra I but if you do extremely well in Pre-Algebra you will set the foundation for the maths that you need or want to study. The key is the foundation in math that will dictate the ease or difficulty you will have with the upper math courses. Good luck.

I was in Algebra by 8th grade and that was considered the norm. If you want to catch up or get ahead you have to make a decision to take action. I actually got a book to learn pre-algebra before taking the class because I felt fairly confident in math. If that is something you want to do, go for it. Otherwise, if math isn't your strongest subject and you do better at other things, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

No, it's not bad! You just need to solidify you're understanding of Algebra before moving on. In fact, I should've stayed in Pre-Algebra one more semester before moving on, but instead I progressed through high school to Pre-Calculus. Each math class I took I just barely passed because I didn't have as good a grasp on Algebra as I should have. Don't worry about what everyone else is taking, just focus on learning whatever subject you take!

Of course not, I was in 8th grade last year and i was in pre-algebra. all it means is that you dont learn as fast as the people in algebra one, chances are, you learn faster in a different subject than them.

No. Just learn pre-algebra very well and if you apply the same effort in algebra, you will do well.

I'm in 8th grade, too and am in Algebra 1. I'm also in the honors class so your friends might be, too, and you're probably just in the normal classes.
DON'T WORRY. YOU AREN'T SLOW! :)

nope, it just means that you might be better in other classes and math is just not your best subject. I was always horrible in math and I needed more help in it than anyone else, but I was awesome in reading/writing classes. Find out what you are best at and concentrate on getting better in those, but also work hard in your math classes so that one of these days you will be able to do both.

If you try harder I am sure you can catch up. You are motivated enough to question it so I am pretty sure that if you put your mind to it you'll be able to come through with it.
