Yes, HCl is a polar compound because H and Cl are two different atoms and they will not share their electrons equally.

HCl reacts with water by completely dissociating into its consituent ions which are then hydrated, forming hydrochloric acid (in reality, though, the H+ ions stick to water molecules to form hydronium ions):

HCl(g) + H2O(l) ----> H3O+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

HCl(g) + H2O ===> H3O+ + Cl-
