Indeed it is. Thanks to Jon Stewart and a quick edit, the sufferers of Bush Derangement Syndrome will surely jump on a comment President Bush made yesterday that "Mandela is dead." Since Jon Stewart ended his clip of the President with "dead," the President looked kind of foolish, as Mr. Mandela is very much alive. Here's the entire quote for those who don't get their NEWS FROM COMEDY CENTRAL:
WASHINGTON (AFP) — US President George W. Bush on Thursday declared there were no more "Mandelas" left to help aid reconciliation in Iraq because former dictator Saddam Hussein had killed them all. There could be no "instant democracy in Iraq" because "people are still recovering from Saddam Hussein's brutal rule," Bush told reporters.
Referring to former South African president Nelson Mandela, who led the fight against apartheid to become a symbol of reconciliation and hope, Bush said of Iraq: "I heard somebody say, 'Now where's Mandela?'"

Whats your point? Daily Show is a news parody and never represents itself as anything but. Unlike, say Fox News, which tries to convince you that it delivers news in the form of ranting pundits foaming at the mouth.
And yes, we get the metaphor.. it ain't too deep, and its poorly used. Mandela stood up against a sovereign government. He was imprisoned for, what, like 30 years? Never was he in the mix of a collapsed government standing up to imported terrorists that flooded the country after an poorly planned invasion. Ataturk might be a better comparison.

Republicans are coming around to the concept that Bush replaced right into a liberal. They began to in the direction of the top of his 2d term. some purely isn't confident, yet in all fairness he did not bypass all out economic liberal until his final term. that's whilst he signed the Medicare growth and threw out lower back to lower back stimulus plans (2008 assessments + TARP). remember that folk have been nevertheless fired up on the topic of the conflict on terror on the time of the 2d election, too. i think of that probably overshadowed something dealing with human beings's minds on the time. If we could had the quagmire in Iraq (remember, it replaced into sparkling on the time) and the economy that we've at present, i don't think he could have been reelected in 2004.

Why do you people think Jon Stewart is a Liberal.. don't you realize he bashes the Democrats all the time also? Bush just gives him so much material to talk about ... that's all.
The Daily Show makes fun of everyone, so the only dishonesty is to call it a Liberal show.. that is unless you are willing to admit that Liberals can take it when people poke fun at them.. whereas Republicans can't.

ok....so comedy central made a joke.
I don't understand your question...
I heard what Bush said, and I didn't take it as ...Mandela was dead. I also saw comedy central, and took it as a joke aimed at making fun of Bush's poor public speaking skills..not literally.
You fear that "liberals" can't tell the difference between a joke and reality ?...
Well this liberal can....

Mandela is not dead. Anybody knows that, but George W. bush is brain dead. Also, "Coragryph" got it right on the money. Too bad you conservatives didn't.

Stewart is a comedian -- he makes stuff up to get people to laugh -- and he says up front (and frequently) that people should not take him seriously, and should not rely on him for news.
So, if you are trying to turn him into some liberal fountain of truth -- you are doing exactly what he said you shouldn't do. And that's your choice, not his.
Liberals got the metaphor. They also got the joke.
