The general concept is:

* that ghosts are related to death (which most are afraid of)
* they are beyond our control (people have a sense of security if they are in control of a situation)
* they are capable of doing stuff we are not capable of (it is natural to be afraid of something/someone who is powerful and has the potential to do harm/damage)

Well, unless you believe in them, then there is no point in being afraid of them right?

Because it's just that. Unexplainable.
People are afraid of what they don't understand.
There are some people though, myself included, that thrive off of the unexplainable and look into it as much as possible.

And who isn't afraid of a ghost or a spirit. They're souls of the dead, that's just creepy.
But again, there are people, myself included, who love the paranormal!

I'm not. The other night my wife was freaking out because she said there was a ghost in the field out back. I walked out to look closer because it did look strange. It was the moonlight reflecting off a spruce tree out back. Only nuts believe in ghosts.

The unknown is always scary. Once it has been charted the unknown becomes a pussycat.
