For me it's Jasmine Scented White Rice from Thailand. Although on the label, it say's in bold letters "Wag-Wag"
Most rice fromThailand bear also words like "Milagrosa". Could this be becuz they got the grains from us and grew them better in Siam? Whatever.

We oftentimes refer to them as "Triple A", becuz it is also written
on labels in the small sack.

Sometimes, I use Calrose, in plastic packs. I think this comes from
California, but I am not sure.

hmm, we grow our own rice, so i don't know what the best brand of rice is, but i know the variety of rice that we harvest. currently, we are about to harvest the bigante variety. it's a fragrant rice and the rice is very white and sort of sparkling when its already cooked. last planting season we had the SL8 variety. my fave is the china rice bec it is shaped like bulgor (barley), the c-4 is also very good bec after you have eaten it, it leaves a very filling-afterfeel. plus it's not easily overcoked even if you cook it with a lot of water (i don't like the rice too soft, i easily get hungry). for us rice growers, wagwag variety is the old stock of palay then it was milled into rice.we are also growing the milagrosa, actually some farmers jovially call it miracle (this is a very fragrant rice and it smells like it has pandan when it's already cooked). i like the pinipig of this milagrosa rice variety. from what i know, the bigante is another variety of this.
well, enough said..this topic is making me hungry.. another factor probably why our rice is tastier is bec we always eat unpolished rice.

Just once or twice, we bought the Mahatma Jasmine Rice (in a sack) from the Asian store. But generally we just buy the 3-lb Adolphus Rice (in plastic bag). There's only 2 of us and we normally eat out anyway.

Thailand Jasmine rice. Some friends who are not so discriminating jokingly refer to it as "kanin ng mga senador" (rice for senators) because it is so full and smells so good. They know it is rather expensive and equate the capability to buy it as "for senators" only. Of course they were exaggerating because it costs just a bit of a premium versus regular rice.

India's Gate Basmati Rice because my hubby insists. He hates fluffy rice so keep my 1 kilo Jasmine Rice for myself. He also says Egyptian rice is "cheap rice". I prefer the latter though, goes well with beef tapas or that yummy Japanese beef strips =)
