I am 18 weeks pregnant and not sure if the flutters I am feeling are the baby or something else. Although the baby is still below my belly button, I get the feelings just above and below my ribcage. Could this be the baby?

The first flutters I ever felt were all below my belly button. It feels like butterflies trying to get out. In a few weeks you'll feel stronger kicks and look back at this time and will be able to tell if it was the baby or gas.

That could be the baby moving....exciting isn't it? It usually feels like butterflies and just because the baby is still below the belly button does not mean that the feeling cannot be felt in the upper part of your stomach. You are close to the time they say that the average person which usually happens around 20 weeks but can happen sooner.

Good luck and congrats! Enjoy every moment :-)

probably not, most likely it's gas. The first flutters are easy to miss. You should start feeling them in a few weeks.
