my brother passed on and left a will leaving his siblings his properties and his nieces money in the bank. Now nieces are suing the executive of the estate because they want some of the properties also. If they sued are they still allowed to get something. Someone told me that if anyone sues the deceases last wishes they get $1.00 Is this true?

If a will is not made properly, it can be contested and if those contesting it win they can get more, or if they were left out, they might be able to get something. I think that might depend upon their relationship to the deceased. People should make sure their wills are made out properly. It is better to go to an attorney to make out wills. I think the nieces will only get the money in the bank, and it will cost them to contest the will.

It depends upon the wording of the will. Some state that anyone who sues unsuccessfully gets nothing. If their suit is successful, they get whatever they win in the lawsuit. If not, they get whatever the will says.
